We have an exciting opportunity for a Funds Accountant to join our Finance team based in Sandton, Johannesburg. The main responsibilities of the job include preparing, reviewing and reporting on financial transactions for a portfolio of clients. In addition the role will also focus on managing and submitting CBR reporting to the FSCA.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance (or equivalent)
• Degree in Accounting

Experience

• A minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in financial accounting and financial systems
• Basic knowledge of SQL Server
• Cashbook reconciliations and all other reconciliations
• Advance Excel
• Proficient using Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Ensure on time and accurate accounting of results – this includes appropriate revenue recognition and Balance Sheet allocation.
• Create and monitor relevant and appropriate budgets and forecasts with input from finance manager and business team.
• Optimise financial processes within the business unit.
• Optimise financial process integration with central finance.
• Oversee internal and external audit process as well as implementation of required improvements.
• Negotiate and implement robust financial processes with clients.
• Manage internal and external customer expectations and ensure delivery of product within the agreed timeframes.
• Perform Ad hoc data analysis and reporting for external/internal clients as required.
• Conduct product and client profitability assessment and recommendations on appropriate course of action.
• Perform assessment of current client and product profitability and recommendations on how to optimise profitability.
• Ensure tax compliance of documentation initiated by the business unit.
• Review float amounts in consultation with the Funds team
• Review and submit pay overs for the relevant clients
• Manage equity activities at the portfolio level and reconcile respective activities between the portfolio underwriter when needed.
• Identify differences in cash book versus pay-overs
